Honey bee at the bird bath December 7, 2009

I photographed this honey bee last summer while it was gathering water at a bird bath. I used a Nikon D300 DLSR with a set of Kenko extension and a Nikon 50mm f1.8 lens. A Nikon SB600 flash was also mounted to the side of the camera.

Stacey, you take wonderful closeups of honeybees. You should submit one to the American Beekeeper magazine for publication on their cover. Get ready for late March 2010 when the real fun begins with your own newly established hive!
